Repositioning a life plan community to be a premier senior living destination and 21st-century “Center for Excellence” in the shadow of DC’s Rock Creek Park.
Perkins Eastman DC created a master plan and conceptual design to serve as a road map for the repositioning of the Ingleside at Rock Creek (IRC) campus. As the District of Columbia’s premier retirement community, the project positions this life plan community (LPC) as a 21st century “Center of Excellence” that serves the needs of current residents, appeals to future generations of seniors, and preserves the natural beauty of Rock Creek Park. Using a collaborative process that considers design, financial assessment, and strategy, our team led a series of workshops to obtain input and feedback from the client’s stakeholders, including board members, management, staff, and residents.
The new Center for Healthy Living expands IRC’s reach and services, providing a therapy, rehabilitation, and wellness destination for both residents and the neighboring community. And because of a larger master plan, the community now features state-of-the-art nursing and assisted living facilities, plus a new, cutting-edge environment for memory support. Independent living and robust community amenities round out the campus additions. In all, there are 97 independent living units, 12 assisted living apartments, 64 skilled nursing, and 32 memory support rooms
